Our Saturday Project

Well, Nathan's Saturday project! He did such a great job digging the holes and planting the 3 trees. I tried to help where I could but I'm pretty much a weakling. He's pretty beat today and said it would have been so worth paying someone to dig the holes for him, but its over! I love the yard now with our trees. Can't wait until they actually give us some privacy and shade 20 years from now! :)


Me and my boys were a great support team for daddy.

Oh and here's a cake I made for Sunday dinner today. It was pretty good.

Cousin Fun

Sunday was Nathan's 29th birthday. I am a terrible wife and didn't make him a cake. But I had gotten home at 4:00 the day before, and that is hardly enough time! I made him whatever dessert he wanted though for family dessert night and to celebrate. He chose this one. Totally yummy, totally sugary, and a lot of preservatives, but who cares! Its delicious!

I'm sad that I didn't get a picture of him blowing out his one candle. Yep. 1 candle. Since he only has one year left til he turns 30. I can't believe it! I love Nathan and I'm so glad he is stuck with me forever. He is the icecream to my cobbler...er or whatever metaphor you want to use! :)

We always have fun at family dessert night. The cousins have a blast. Here's a shot of them playing on the starfall website. It was too funny. I love that Lincoln wants in on the action. I'm not sure how long we'll all live by each other and I'm so grateful that we do. It is so fun!

I can't believe I've never blogged about Peppermint oil!! It is a staple in our home. It's an essential oil that has amazing properties. Nathan gets a LOT of headaches and a good number of migraines. Before we discovered peppermint oil he popped a LOT of excedrin or ibuprofen. I always hated it but you definitely do what you have to do when you get a migraine. Now he puts peppermint oil on his head when he gets one and usually avoids getting a full blown migraine and also avoids taking meds! It's usually in his work bag. Yummmm peppermint...

Not convinced? Well my sister Melissa has AWFUL migraines. They are called "cluster headaches" and supposedly they are worse than having a baby. Literally. She's had braces, chiropractic adjustments, and even been put on blood pressure meds to help get rid of them but nothing worked. When she visited me in August I was shocked at how many headaches she got and how debilitating they were. She also is hypoglycemic so if she didn't eat enough she'd get a headache. ANd she took way too much excedrin EVERY DAY. Well first I told her about peppermint oil and then I had her talk to my friends husband who is a chiropractor and he gave her a chiropractic pillow like the one I have (I LOVE IT!). Well over Thanksgiving break she told me she hadn't had to use Excedrin for over a month. A month!

Oh, and another thing that made me happy...

I was looking at my pediatricians website and I found this article about garlic oil for ear infections. Woohoo!

I saw this video on a friends blog and I just had to share it. I am so grateful for my dad, and Nathan's dad as well. They are true men, who have undoubtedly sacrificed much for their families. Thanks dad!
